Inquiring Minds

How often do you ladies go out to lunch with a friend and notice that they may have lost a few pounds? They look great and you want to know the secret! Guys, how often do you have buddies that seem to always have the greenest and nicest yard in the neighborhood? Yours always sprouts weeds and you want to know the secret! So what do inquiring minds do? We ask them how they did it, of course.

When we discuss evangelism and outreach, I don't necessarily believe it connotes knocking on doors and sharing with anyone who will not slam the doors the 5 step process into Heaven or all the wonderful programs your church offers. What I do believe is illustrated above. We are supposed to allow our lives to be branches of evangelism. People see them and want to know the secret. Didn't you?

Often we complicate religion(more on that in the next post). We fear being grouped into the category of "one of those zealots." Paul wrote to the Phillipians (2:5) that our "attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." So now, not only our actions are branches but also our attitudes. Isn't there a difference? Combine the two into our daily make up and Christ permeates our existence and radiates to those we encounter.

We cannot be Christ. We are not commanded to. However as Christians, we are told to be Christ-like. Why? Not necessarily for us, since we have found 'The Truth." I believe it is so that others may see Christ. Are we to be molded in Christ's image just so we can establish a higher plateau of existence? I don't think so. In my opinion, the purpose is simply so He can draw more people to Him that wouldn't hear His words from a sermon or a missionary.

Therefore, we are to execute the Great Commission and live accordingly. Be strong, ask for spiritual development, pray unceasingly, so that others will see the work God is creating in you and will want in on our secret.
